This organization is seeking a Senior Environmental Engineer (Water) Team Leader to join its North Chicago Suburban office to manage a team of engineers.

This role is ideal for an experienced professional ready to take on more leadership — managing municipal water and wastewater projects, mentoring junior engineers, and continuing to grow within an environment that values innovation, collaboration, and shared ownership.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the planning, design, and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare reports, design documents, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and communication with clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, efficient solutions.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (ABET-accredited).
  • 5–8 years of experience in water and wastewater design.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Illinois, or the ability to obtain via reciprocity.
  • Experience with MicroStation or AutoCAD.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • A collaborative spirit and drive to grow in a leadership role.

Salary Range

$125,000 – $160,000
